It's That Time Again!... MAG Challenge #37 - Hello Kitty Greetings Pg. 65

Hello Friends,

I hope everyone is having a Fantabulous Friday. I was sooo excited when I found out that our MAG Design Team had to use the Hello Kitty Greetings cartridge. I'm not sure if you're like me, but Hello Kitty was and still is my favorite childhood character. I'm hoping it will be my little 2 year old's too, but for now she's all about DORA (lol). This weeks MAG Challenge #37 will be using the Hello Kitty Greetings pg 65. If this is your first time hearing of MAG Challenges, then let me give you a little scoop and you can head on over to blog and read for yourself and JOIN IN ON THE FUN!!!
MAG Challenges by the Page => Cricut Cartridge Creations using ONLY the images on the given page. May not be combined with other cartridge cuts or other pages on that cartridge. In other words
...for MAG Challenges you cannot use any other Cricut cartridge or page from another cartridge, only the one specified.  However, you are free to use all the embellishments and other treasure from your stash!!

Recipe:
Cart - Hello Kitty Greetings Pg. 65 (only) - I cut everything at 2 3/4"
Papers - DCWV, Recollections, Bazzil Basics Bling
Tools - MS Punch (Dove, Snowflakes), EK Punch (Labels), White Gel Pen, MPS (Winter Punnies), i-Rock
Embellies - Stickles, MS Glitter, Bling

I can tell you that this was an easy project in my head to put together, but when it came to putting it to fruition, I was reminded why I Love and not-so love this cartridge sometimes. Those Dang tiny pieces when it comes to layering and putting everything together. Don't get me started on those eyes and nose pieces...whew! **sn: I also had to do this without my gypsy, which would have been a little easier, but it was still hung up on my computer doing an update with Cricut Sync. Ugghh ** On top of that it started thundering & lightening and I had to shut everything down even in the middle of the update. Dbl Ugghh **. But I LOVE, LOVE the result regardless of the work behind it. I call it "My True Blue Winter Kitty". Let me know your thoughts. I Love reading your comments, my friends. Smooches...

p.s. I will also be entering this into the following other challenges:
Birthday Sundaes - Inspirational Photo (color challenge)
More than Favors - Christmas in July
Cricut Cardz Challenge - Holiday "Anything Goes"
Cricut 360 - Transportation
Now that's what I call... MAG-zimizing your Design! LOL, I couldn't resist...LOL!!!

Summer Card Camp 2011 - Week 4; PBD Community "Embossed, Embossing"; ...and a little "Wacky Wednesday - Cricutless Challenge"

First & Foremost... WE HAVE A/C AGAIN!!
Woo Hoo!!! Didn't know if I/We could last another night.
On another note, Oh No... say it ain't so. It's Week 4 of my Summer Card Camp with Jennifer McGuire & Kristina Werner. Which means this is the last week with these very talented ladies and what they've shared with us. I can say for sure that I have definitely gotten out of my comfort zone and challenged myself to go beyond the standard stamping, inking, embossing...etc basics. I wish they would somehow add a Bonus week because I don't want it to end. Woo woo woo...
Our next color challenge (some of my FAVs) for Week-4 is shown below and this is the design I challenged myself to create.
(click on image to see larger)
OK, because I did a lot more to this card and tried a few techniques, one I added my own flair. I'll share what I did with this one:
A2 Recipe:
The background layer of the card is the one that took the most work. This is a technique I got from StampTV and one of my favorite bloggers out there Paula from More Than Favors. She has some demo pics on her step by step technique of this over on the Pink by Design Blog. Here's my take on it.
  • I inked the entire WHITE background layer of the card with Versamark Ink,
  • I then took embossing powder, color by color and poured it on a section of the versamark ink until the card was completely covered in sort of a rainbow effect on the card. (I poured up any excess of the embossing powder back into its valve before pouring on the next color)
  • Once the card layer was completely covered, I used my Heat Gun to melt it all down which blended the colors together quite nicely. **sn ( I wasn't sure how it was going to come out, but that was my added flair, since I've only seen this done with 1-color over the entire layer of the card)**.
  • After the Heat Embossing was done, I took my Cuttlebug embossing folder "Script" and ran the layered card through it. Wow! was I impressed.
  • I then used the Tim Holtz Sander and sanded down some of the embossed "Script" to allow the white to show through the card which added sort of a vintage look
Other steps items used were:
Stamps: PTI (Beautiful Blessings, Day Dreamer)
Tools: EK Punch (Butterfly) - I ink blended those also by hand, Tim H. Distresser (around Dandelion flowers)
Embellies: Bling (Flower centers), Ribbon (my stash)
I know I should have took step-by-step photos, but this won't be my last time trying this, so I'll make sure to do it next time. Well there you go. Feel free to try this for yourself. I know I'm going to be hook on this for a long time. With that being said I've decided to spread this card around and put it in a few challenges out there:
1. Summer Card Camp 2011
2. Paula's - PBD Community Forum "Embossed Embossing" (Make sure you join the PBD Community so you can view all the fun stuff out there.. It's FREE to join!)
3. Paula's - Wacky Wednesday "Cricutless Challenge"

On another serious note, I forgot to mention earlier that I wanted this card to go to a fellow blogger for a wonderful heart that she has. Her name is Madison over at Funky Cards. She has started an "I Feel The Love" project and I think it's definitely worth checking out and Participating In. All cards for July will be dedicated to "Marley Moore" (click here to read her story) for the I Feel The Love project.
Wow I got a 4-for-1. Can I get a Woo Hoo with 3-Snaps Up...lol. Let me know what you think. Smooches...

Throwback Thursday - Wild Card or Just Because Cartridge

Hi Everyone,
It's another wonderful time over at Emma's - My Creative Time. Her Throwback Thursday Challenge is here again and just in time for her next release. Woo Hoo, You ROCK Emma! Here is the skinny on the details:
***Use either "Wild CardOR "Just Because" cartridges! & PLEASE incorporate some EMBOSSING somewhere on any project of your choice! You can dry or heat emboss, whichever you prefer!
IF YOU DO NOT OWN ANY OF THESE CARTRIDGES, USE ANY "OLDER" CARTRIDGE YOU OWN!
As much as I love this cart, I don't use it often enough. So I dusted it off and pulled out my "Wild Card" cartridge to showcase how wonderful and useful this cart is. Hope you like what I came up with. I hope this made it in time. If not, I wanted to share my "Wild Card" card anyway. Her next 8th release will be announced soon. I Can't Wait!
(click on image to see larger)
O-M-GEE, I couldn't wait to get my hands on Emma's stamps and try them out on this project. I was like a kid in a candy store when they arrived in the mail. This card is a tribute to Mrs. Emma and the wonderful job she continues to do with ALL of her Stamp Releases. KUDOS!!! I always look forward to what you'll come up with next. Smooches...

Design Team Call at My Pink Stamper

Hi Friends...
It's me, braving the hot box again. It's actually a lot cooler at night when the house is still and quiet. I know I'm going to regret being up this late when my two year old gets up. Aieh-Vey! Anyhew... Have you Heard the News! It's now a new term for My Pink Stamper's Design Team. This was one of the reasons I started my blog in the first place back in January. I didn't make that call, but I will surely be trying again and again if need be. Robyn is one of the many sweetest persons out there. You can really feel her genuine love for her family, followers and friends. I can't believe that she's ever met a stranger that didn't feel touched by her warm spirit. I know I have and I haven't even met her in person. Well it's time for me to bring some Serious "A" Game this time around. I've learned a lot along the way since I started blogging and I'm ready to share some of my growth that continues and is un-ending. We still have no AC, and this card has been 4-days in the making since I first learned of her new Design Team Call. There are a lot of stamp makers out there and I know we'd all love to design for all of them if we could. Robyn, I will say is one of those top stamp makers (in my book) I would love, love, love to design for. Hop on over to the My Pink Stamper Design Team Call to learn more about the specifics of the DT Call. Feel free to join in. I know she'd love to have an entry from you too.
As the Challenge, we were asked to:
Make a card, scrapbook page, or other Cricut project with your favorite Cricut cartridge using the following colors......

Orange
Turquoise
Green
Brown
(other optional color of your choice)
For some reason my mind went immediately to a Summer Design card. I don't know why, but I guess it could have been steered from the all HEAT I'm still experiencing with no AC. I wanted something tropical looking or beachy so that's where my mind went and I just went with it. **sn: (my mind tends to go off on a lot of places and sometimes gets lost trying to find its way back...lol; Yeah I hope you're laughing With ME and not At ME, because I know you're all guilty too... It's called Day Dreaming...LOL)**. Anyhew... without further a due, here is my card for the DT Call.
(click on image to see larger)
A7 Recipe:
Carts: Life's a Beach, Doodlecharms
Papers: Bazzil Bling Basics, Recollection
Tools: My Pink Stamper (Punny-licious), Peachy Keen (Wide Eyed Kids), Cuttlebug (D'vine Swirl), Tim Holz Broken China (Distressor for Sky Background), White Gel Pen
Embellies: Googly Eyes (Crab), Tim Holz Orange Peel Stickles (Skirt Trim, Nails-Hand & Toes), Stickles (flower centers), Studio-G Flocking Powder (Sand)
Personal Touch: I drew in the face on the Hula Girl as I didn't have a small enough stamp to use.
I think I got all of the elements required in there. Wish me luck. Robyn will be announcing her new Design Team on a Live Broadcast, Saturday - July 23rd. I'll be practicing my Sun Drop dance...LOL! Smooches...

Birthday Sundaes & Tacky Tuesday Challenge

Hi Everyone,
I've haven't been online in a while, only through my phone. Our AC has been out since Friday and I've been miserable. Having no AC in South Florida during the Summer is Brruu-talll. I keep praying we get it fixed soon. In the meantime, I told my DH that as long as the AC is Out, So am I by going to the malls. I can't help it if I end up buying a little something or two...lol. It wouldn't be sooo bad if we didn't have a water boiling ordinance on top of that and to add even more, it's been raining. Well you would think that should keep things cool a little, but it's no fun when you're caught outside in it. All while trying to keep my little two year old as cool and calm as possible. Enough of my little personal journal...
On another note, I did manage to get in my craft area for just a short bit of time until the sweat starts running down. I really relied on my gypsy to create and setup the items I needed and I had to go into the living room to put things together. Remember I share my craft space with part of the office space in our home. Well I'm hoping to get this card I made in on a 2-for-1 deal. I just had to enter Ruthie's Tacky Tuesday Challenge over at September Ninth. We had to make a "Cool Treat" using the word "Sweet" in it. I tell you, looking at all those cool treats really made me want to eat every last one in hopes it would cool me off. In addition, Birthday Sundaes was having a "Anything Goes Birthday Card" challenge. Since I knew I couldn't stay in my craft space too long before sweating I had to make something that I could use for both challenges. I hope my card is worthy as an entry. Have a look for yourself. Let me know what you think. Smooches...
Hey what good is ice cream without cake. I always like to have both even though I don't need either one of them. I guess the ice cream cone must have felt the heat in here as it started melting while I was making it...lol.
 A2 Recipe:
Cart: Sweet Treats, From My Kitchen
Paper: M&MBI, Bazzil Bling Basics, Recollections
Tools: MPS (Punny-licious & Winter Punnies) - I masked two different stamps to make the sentiment.
Embellies: Brads, Hearts, Bling (my stash)

This is a beginning stages of a chipboard album for lovely Step-daughter who recently turned 16 and I've been wanting to Surprise her with something Unique & Special for her birthday. Well with this week's MAG Challenge #35 of "Rock Princess - Pg. 55"
I knew one of the cuts from here would be perfect for this album. I know it's a simple cut of course, but hey it fit the challenge for me. Remember with MAG challenges you can only use what's on that page of the cartridge. This is what makes us (MAG) soooo unique and our challenges so much Fun and...challenging of course. You can add any embellishments or do-dads of your liking to your project, but you can't use any other cartridge cuts or pages. If you have this cartridge in your stash, feel free to play along with us. There were some Wonderful, Super, Awesome entries last week and we were soooo Impressed. My special cut for this MAG Challenge takes advantage on the use of the Letter "K" with the heart on it. I was immediately drawn to this because my Step-daughter's name is "Keionta" (Key-on-tah). I'll show the rest of the album at a later date when I finish it. **sn: (It's sooo hard to do that with Keionta living here and being around all the time because my craft area is in the same shared office space. Summer Card Camp 2011 - Week 3

It's WEEK 3 of the Summer Card Camp with J. McGuire and K. Werner. Here is my take on the color combo challenge for Week 3. I am learning sooooo much and I will be posting another card, trying one of the techniques that was taught. Hope you like it.

Tools: MS Punch (Flowers), Fiskars Punch (Flower's Boarder), Hero Arts Stamp (Wood Grain), FRIENDS Stamp (my stash), While Gel Pen, Memento (Rich Cocoa)

Here's the other card that I worked on with this technique I learned from the class. The technique is called "fingerinking". I can see myself trying out a lot more of this fingerinking. Enjoy your day. Smooches...

Day 4 - 100+ Followers Giveaway

Hi Everyone,

I have making cards and little do-dads for a while on my computer long before I knew anything about this crafting world let alone a Cricut. I sure do appreciate these machines and tools out here now. Boy oh boy how this would have saved me a lot of time, mistakes and waste of paper if I had back then, what I have now. I would create a design on my computer to print on my card and them print a saying to go on the inside. All of my sayings were personalized for the person I was giving it to, which made it hard sometimes coming up with the right words to put on paper (and make sense...lol). Anyhew, I put that talent down for a while and only dabbled into when requested by word of mouth from those who knew what I did. Well more and more requests would come in and then before you knew it I was scheduling dates for when I needed to make invitations, cards, favors...etc. My DH woke me up late one night, I'm not sure what time it was, to have me watch some Cricut commercial **sn: ( I don't not like my sleep interrupted unless there is a family emergency or the house is on fire)**. Barely opening my eyes, I caught a glimpse of two ladies showing some cuts they were doing on the infomercial and I said to him..."that's nice" and went back to sleep. Cricut never came up again until one day on the weekend I was flipping through channels and came across the infomercial again about Cricut. I sat and watched the entire infomercial over and over. I thought "hmmm, that really is a neat machine". Well DH looked further into this Cricut thing than I did and without even asking if this is something I really wanted, he bought me my first Cricut Expression (in Royal Blue - one of my favorite colors) for me as a Christmas gift back in 2009. I thought how cool, but I still didn't rip open the box right then. It sat in a corner for a little while longer. I later decided to do some more research on the internet to find out more about this product and I went directly to the owner's website "Provo Craft" I read a lot that whole week and came across the community forum. This is where I Struck Gold... **sn: (It's like one of those commercials when you hear the music in the background to the sound of someone reaching those heavenly gates and they burst open with the Shinning Beaming Lights)**.  I digress; many of you know this lady... "My Pink Stamper" aka Robyn Cardon was that Golden Moment for me. When I saw she had a website and... videos (woo hoo), I sat and watched every single one of them in 2-3 days or maybe less. I ripped open that box like it was Christmas morning all over again. From that moment on my inner Cricut Beast was unleashed... and so was my piggy bank. Seriously this hobby of ours will have you breaking the bank to buy stuff you won't even use(for a while that is), don't want to use(cause the paper or ribbon is to pretty to cut and you don't want to run out of it) or like me, even forget you have some items and end up buy it again...(raise your hand if you're guilty, uh hmm I knew I wasn't the only one). LOL...!!! Thanks for reading and letting me go on about my story. I just wanted to share. Now onto...

Day 4 - Giveaway:
I'd love to hear your story on how you were introduced to the Cricut World. We all have one. Feel free to share yours in a few words if possible. I'll be sharing some candy goodies with the winner on this day. Good Luck. Here's what you're sharing your story for.

Heeelllpp! I know there has got to be an easier more compact/organized solution. These rubber stamps are definitely the hardest to store, I definitely prefer the unmounted and acrylic by far. Please share with me "How Do You Store Your Stamps?" Feel free to add your link info below showing a picture, video or let me know in your comment. I am re-organizing my craft space thanks to DH providing more room for me in our shared office space. I need some functional tips so that I get ample use out of my stamps that I have. One winner chosen by random.org will win the blog candy below.

Still Feeling Patriotic...

Hi Everyone,

This weekend has been a blast. With soooo much going on in my life these days all at once, this long holiday weekend is Just What the Dr. Ordered! I've been sooo busy personally it's a wonder that I had time to craft anything. The next Work of Heart you'll see was supposed to be a birthday card for my great-niece, but in all the hurry and scurry going on that day, I didn't have time to finish it and give it to her. Sooo a day later I'm still looking at this card, already cut out, and wondering what can I do with this to make some good use of it. Well it didn't take me long when I remember that Paula at More than Favors had a few challenges going on at her blog. So Guess What... for both of her challenges Wacky Wednesday "Red, White & Blue" and Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge (CCCC) "Wild Card" this project would fit both of them. Hope you like it as much as I do. I call it..."My Star Spangled Cupcake" (lol). Smooches...

It's Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge (CCCC) #22 Time!

Hey Everyone,

It's Cricut Cartridge Chaos Challenge again with Paula at More than Favors and Meriah at her NEW Blog Tattered Time. This week Meriah is hosting and I'm so thankful that this CCCC was extended from last week. I just had to enter. This is one of my favorite cartridges and I said to myself **sn: I say a lot to myself; we (me, myself and I) have some very good conversations... (lol)** there is no way I could miss out on this challenge. I used the image on page 106 of the TBBM cart. I wanted to do something different with the image and play on the visual effect of the shaped image because it looked like a Hanger type card. So here's my take for this challenge I call... "Hung Up On YOU". Hope you like it. You know we bloggers L-O-V-E comments soooo, what are you waiting for? I'd love to hear from Y-O-U!

Recipe:
Cart: Tags, Bags, Boxes and More - Pg. 106
Papers: Martha Stewart (Classic Woodland), Recollections
Embellies: Recollections (Prima Flowers), Studio G (Pearls), PTI (Buttons), Michael's (Ribbon/Bling)

Let Them EAT CAKE!!!

I guess you can say I got a little carried away when making these cute yummy looking cake cards. They were such a simple cut and fancying them up wasn't so hard either. One can never have too many Birthday Cards. Here are a few of the flavors I fancied up. Hope you think they are just as De-lish as I do. Enjoy!
my take on a Chocolate-Caramel Cake
German Chocolate
Rainbow Drizzle
 Strawberry Mousse Drizzle
I hope I didn't awake your sweet tooth...(lol). BTW, I can actually bake/make each of these flavor in real life. Unfortunately I don't own a Cricut Cake to assist with the decorating. I'll take a hiatus on that wish for now. Happy Birthday to all those celebrating an upcoming birthday or previous birthday. Pick your favorite and have a slice...yumm! Smooches...
